At her meeting with David Usupashvili, Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia, the Speaker of the Seimas appreciated friendly bilateral relations between Lithuania and Georgia. “Our free nations share common past, similar destinies and historical challenges. The twenty five years of restored independence is a beautiful anniversary, which we have recently celebrated in Lithuania, too. It is a quarter of a century that saw the implementation of a number of important reforms in Georgia. Today, both our nations take pride in our freedom, preserved national identity, and a society that recognises democratic values,” the Speaker of the Seimas said.
Mrs Graužinienė expressed her hope that Georgia would succeed in achieving the set goals and smoothly complete the Euro-integration process. In the opinion of the Speaker of the Seimas, Georgia demonstrates an impressive progress in implementing the Visa Liberalisation Action Plan, which has also been noted in the recent report of the European Commission. “Lithuania supports the speediest possible completion of the procedures,” the Speaker of the Seimas said.
The Speaker of the Seimas also underlined that all EU Member States had completed the procedures of the ratification of the Association Agreement. “It is a significant achievement of Georgia’s arduous efforts, which will enable the country to further consistently deepen its European integration,” Mrs Graužinienė said and urged Georgia to maintain the pace of reform needed for the implementation of the Association Agreement with the European Union.
