The Lithuanian delegation was led by the Director of the Latin America, Africa, Asia and Oceania Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Eduardas Borisovas.
The Palestinian Assistant Minister on European Affairs also met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Linas Linkevičius, who took interest in the Palestinian situation and prospects for settlement of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict. The Palestinian Assistant Minister on European Affairs called on Lithuania and the European Union to support the French initiative to hold an international peace conference in 2016.
Jadou also met with the Chair of the Committee on Foreign Affairs of the Seimas (Parliament) of Lithuania Benediktas Juodka, the Foreign Policy Advisor to the Prime Minister Jonas Paslauskas, representatives of the Ministry of Education and Science and the State Department of Tourism. In the meeting with the Rector of Vilnius University Artūras Žukauskas, the officials discussed a possibility of strengthening ties between universities and exchanging students under the Erasmus+ programme. At the Institute of International Relations and Political Science of Vilnius University, the Palestinian Assistant Minister on European Affairs delivered a lecture on prospects for the creation of the State of Palestine.
Lithuania has not established diplomatic relations with Palestine. Nevertheless, the country maintains bilateral relations with the Palestinian diplomats. Lithuania supports negotiating for a two-state solution.
