After the signing ceremony, the officials held a conversation with the Director-General for Europe of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Algeria Noureddine Bardad-Daidj. The head of the Lithuanian delegation, Director of the Latin America, Africa, Asia and Oceania Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania Eduardas Borisovas noted that the countries had a lot of untapped potential for the development of bilateral relations, especially in the field of economy. According to the Lithuanian diplomat, a solid legal framework is required for the development of economic relations. The signing of investment promotion and protection agreements would help strengthen the legal framework.
The meeting focused on the importance of people-to-people relations. In the conversation, the officials also stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation in the fight against international terrorism, meeting the challenges of migration and ensuring peace and stability in the Middle East and Africa, where Algeria played a particularly significant role.
At the Algerian Ministry of Trade and the Ministry of Agriculture, the officials discussed prospects for economic cooperation, as well as the authorization to export Lithuanian meat and meat products, milk and milk products to Algeria. The Lithuanian delegation will also meet with representatives of the Algerian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The officials will seek to identify potential partners for Lithuanian companies, which are interested in the Algerian market.
