The Lithuanian and Ukrainian diplomats also discussed the implementation of the Minsk accords and the Normandy Quartet talks. The Ukrainian counterparts of Krivas informed him about the progress in fulfilling commitments undertaken to ensure the introduction of a visa-free regime with the EU and the key trends in the implementation of reforms in 2016.
Ukraine was elected as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the period 2016–2017. Lithuania is ready to share the experience of its membership of the UN Security Council with Ukraine. After Lithuania was elected as a member of UNESCO's Executive Board for the period 2015–2019, the country's representatives dedicate a lot of attention to freedom of assembly and freedom of the press, education and human rights issues in Crimea.
During the visit to Kyiv, Lithuania's Foreign Vice-Minister also held meetings with deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Lithuanian experts working in Ukraine, Crimean Tatar leaders and the head of the OSCE Special Monitoring Mission to Ukraine.
