According to the President, close friendship ties between Lithuania and Australia are built on the solid foundation of common values, respect for democracy and people-to-people contacts. The large community of Lithuanians, who found a new home in Australia, have forged a strong bond between the two societies and they continue contributing to bilateral dialogue and cultural understanding.
The President underlined that Lithuania highly valued successful cooperation maintained with Australia in the United Nations Security Council. Today, the President pointed out, when the international arena is permeated with the most serious challenges to global welfare and security of the recent decades, strong partnership and consistent collaboration between Lithuania and Australia in the search for a unified response is vitally important.
Dalia Grybauskaitė wished the Governor-General and the people of Australia continued success, well-being and many memorable moments of celebration.
