During their meeting, the President and the Ambassador discussed the process of political reforms in Moldova. Dalia Grybauskaitė stressed that Moldova must have a functioning government and continue the reform process. The President strongly hoped that the new majority would remain committed to following the course of Moldova's association with Europe. Dalia Grybauskaitė pointed out that Lithuania is ready to provide wide-ranging assistance to Moldova in this area.
According to the President, the two countries share a common objective to strengthen information security and the fight against hostile propaganda as well as to promote the long-awaited process of reforms. The President encouraged the Ambassador to collaborate with Lithuania and other members of the European Union in this area.
Ambassador Valeriu Frija began to work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Moldova in 1992 where he specialized in international law. Between 1995 and 1998, he served as the first secretary at the embassy in Bonn. Between 2002 and 2009, he worked in the area of financial investment and market investment strategy analysis. Between 2010 and 2013, he was advisor at the embassy in Berlin. Valeriu Frija speaks Romanian, German, English, and Russian.
