In the meeting with Šimonović, Lithuania's Foreign Minister discussed the human rights situation in the conflict zone of Ukraine. The head of Lithuania's diplomacy stressed that it was important to continue to monitor the human rights situation in Ukraine, including in Crimea, and to draft reports on this matter. The meeting also discussed the ongoing illegal detention of the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko. The UN Assistant Secretary-General thanked Lithuania for its active cooperation during Lithuania's tenure as a non-permanent member of the UN Security Council and for dedicating attention to human rights issues.
In the meeting with Ladsous, Linkevičius discussed the participation of Lithuania in the coalition against terrorism and international peacekeeping operations. Lithuania's Foreign Minister noted that Lithuania was aware of the importance of the UN peacekeeping operations and was determined to send more soldiers and police officers to bolster missions, also planned to contribute troops to the UN Multidimensional Integrated Stabilization Mission in Mali next year. Currently, 3 Lithuanian soldiers serve in the European Union Training Mission in Mali.
In the meeting with the U.S. Permanent Representative to the United Nations Ambassador Power, Linkevičius discussed items on the UN Security Council's agenda for the month of December, including Ukraine.
