The deal is worth slightly above EUR 300,000.
According to Vytautas Reisas, Head of Smart Taxi, the company is reacting to rapidly growing pollution in cities and has decided to contribute to environmental friendliness, reduction of pollution and promotion of electric vehicles.
"The company's fleet consists of 55 taxis. However, noticing the rising demand of quality services we are planning to expand our fleet by 5 new vehicles every month and have 70 of them by the end of the year," said the head of Smart Taxi.
One of the biggest obstacles for the popularity of electric vehicles is the lack of charging stations. At the moment there are 4 of them in Vilnius.
According to Reisas, this is not enough for the rapid expansion of taxi fleet. Therefore, Smart Taxi together with partners intends to erect 3 charging stations. A study will be carried out prior to this and will help determine the location of the charging stations. The investment in the charging stations is expected to reach EUR 40,000. More of them will be built when demand grows.
