Train speed in Lithuania gets limited due to heat wave

Due to the currently intensive heat in Lithuania, the state company Lithuanian Railways has decided to limit train speeds in the country.

As of 6 August, speed of all passenger trains is limited up to 80 kilometres per hour, speed of freight trains – up to 70 kilometres per hour.

As a result, trains are expected to be late.

The limit will be kept to until weather conditions allow cancelling it.
