The insurance company PZU Lithuania's representative told the new agency Elta that the information about the fatality was received in the early hours on Wednesday. It is believed that the accident in the Tian Shan mountain range happened due to bad weather and an avalanche of stones.
The victim was born in 1987.
The Kyrgyzstan Emergency Situations Ministry has informed Lithuania's Consulate General in Almaty that rescuers met with a group of Lithuanian mountaineers in Kensay canyon.
Part of the rescue team is descending from the mountain, while others are going to the place where yesterday's fatality occured. As reported, a young Lithuanian woman died during a trip in the Tian Shan mountain range.
According to the reports of the Kyrgyzstan Emergency Situations Ministry, another woman is slightly injured but she can walk on her own. No one else was injured.
A team of 20 Lithuanian travellers to Kyrgyztan has PZU Lithuania travel insurance. The insurance company will take care of repatriation of the victim's body back to Lithuania and ensure all medical assistance to the injured traveller from Lithuania.
