One might have suspicions that this project, along with the fueled vision of a new nuclear power plant, could be related to groups of interest, which do not want the politicians to kill these economically disadvantageous plans.
Environment Minister Kestutis Treciokas admits that he is sceptical about the continuously postponed announcement of a tender for investors.
"We have disseminated the information through our embassies but there has not been any interest from potential investors," the minister said, adding that there is no great need for investment and shale gas exploration. "Given the current situation when the gas and oil prices are lower and the fact that we have invested into our LNG terminal, I am more and more sceptical about the shale gas idea," Treciokas said.
