Lithuanian employers looking for possibilities to bring in workers from third countries

Failing to find suitable and cheap employers on the domestic labour marker, Lithuanian employers are looking for possibilities to bring in workers from third countries. In the last three years, the number of permits grew from 3,265 (in 2012) to 4,316 (in 2014). In the first six months of this year, a total of 2,400 permits to work in Lithuania were issued. Permits issued to drivers of international freight, transport companies account for 88% of all permits issued in Lithuania under an employment contract. The majority of permits to work for drivers of international freight, transport companies were granted to citizens of Belarus, Ukraine, and Moldova.
