In the first five months of 2015 compared with the identical period of 2014, the sales of aviation and non-aviation services of Lithuanian Airports increased by 13%. The company earned a greater net profit due to sales growth. Net profit increased by 65% in January-May 2015 year-on-year. EBITDA (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortisation) increased by 2%age points to 33%. To achieve even greater operational efficiency and benefit to the sate, the Ministry of Transport and Communications is planning to start managing and developing Lithuanian Airports under a concession agreement.
In January-May 2015 year-on-year, the company's expenditure grew by 9%. The increase was determined by refinement of functions of departments and staff, merger of the infrastructure of thee airports into a single network and standardisation of aviation safety procedures.
Currently, planes fly from Lithuanian airports to 60 destinations. 17 airlines operate in Lithuania. Three Lithuanian airports are expected to service over 3.8 million passengers in 2015. In the first half of 2015, a total of 1.9 million passengers have already travelled through Lithuanian airports.
Based on the company's strategy, Vilnius airport is Lithuania's main airport. Meanwhile, Kaunas arport, which is implementing the AeroHub KUN project, will become the base for aviation-related businesses. Whereas Palanga airport is focusing on the needs of Klaipeda Region and servicing inbound tourism.
Lithuanian Airports recorded 2,700 passengers per employee in the first five months of 2015. Compared with the first five months of 2014, operational efficiency increased by 11%.
