Roughly 40-strong U.S. platoon will further head for the exercise site at the Gaiziunu Training Area by their four "Stryker" armored vehicles weighing over 16 tons each.
The U.S. combat vehicles will go by public roads depending on their condition and maximum permissible load.
As reported, participating in the international exercise "Saber Strike 2015" that is taking place in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, and Poland from June 1 to 26, will also be Latvian soldiers.
Lithuania is the host nation of the exercise this year.
The goal of the exercise is to improve the armed forces' preparedness for participation in international operations, including in Afghanistan, fostering their compatibility and improving air and ground operations' mutual integration. The exercise also aims at strengthening regional stability and security, improving the allied forces' military cooperation.
