Military conscripts will receive notices by registered mail. The list will be published on the National Defence Ministry's online page on 13 May. Upon receiving notices, conscripts will have to arrive at mandatory military service and manning offices on the indicated date. Their personal data will be specified and afterwards they will be sent to the Military Medical Expertise Commission for health evaluation. The first conscripts will arrive at the Lithuanian Grand Duke Butigeidis Dragoon Training Battalion on 24 August.
The lists based on regions were compiled by computer software using a random number generator. The procedure was observed by public representatives, Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas and Chairman of the Seimas National Security and Defence Committee Arturas Paulauskas.
According to Minister of National Defence Juozas Olekas, this was a historic day as the list of youths who would carry out mandatory initial military service was created. This was the first such procedure with assistance of observers. The minister thanked 1,136 people who chose to serve voluntarily. Olekas reminded that the process had not stopped and 18-38-year-old men and women could continue registering for voluntary initial military service.
This year a total of 3,000 male conscripts aged 19-26 years will carry out military service.
