Germany to sell self-propelled howitzers to Lithuania

During her formal visit to Lithuania, Germany's Federal Minister of Defence Dr Ursula von der Leyen told her Lithuanian counterpart Juozas Olekas that Berlin is going to sell the self-propelled artillery systems Panzerhaubitze 2000 (PZH 2000) to Lithuania, as requested by the country. "We received a positive response, which will allow launching experts' negotiations next month already. The negotiations will later allow us buying the necessary artillery," said Defence Minister Olekas after his meeting with Germany's Ursula von del Leyen. Minister Olekas expressed Lithuania's wish to buy some self-propelled howitzers to his German colleagues back in February, during a meeting of the European Union's defence ministers in Riga.
