The money for support of young farmers comes from the Lithuanian Rural Development Programme for 2014-2020. Most of the money of the program goes from the European Union, the remaining smaller portion goes from the Lithuanian budget.
The Ministry intends to allocate 20 million euro for young farmers this year and 64.7 million euro for the whole period of seven years.
The Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Lithuania says that Lithuania has negotiated the largest amount of financial support for one applicant among the Baltic states and Poland - up to 15,000 euro.
A young farmer applying for support should develop a business plan, which is to prove that in a specific time he will reach specific results. Such things as production of agricultural products, their processing (sorting, manufacturing), processing and marketing will be financed.
