265 people died in road traffic accidents, 40.8% of victims were pedestrians and 7.2% were cyclists. Moreover, 3,757 people were injured in road traffic accidents.
In 2014, as much as 386,260 road traffic offences were registered. Pedestrians made 23,021 offences and cyclists 11,143.
The main reasons behind accidents have remained the same for many years and include: drunk drivers, cyclists and pedestrians; excessive speeding; disregard of the safe distance between vehicles; manoeuvring without indicating; not stopping at pedestrian crossings; not wearing reflectors.
