The Comission predicts that lower heating prices will be established in 42 out of 60 municipalities of Lithuania: Druskininkai, Šiauliai, and Jonava (over 20 percent lower). In Kaunas heating will be cheaper by 17.3 percent, in Pakruojis - by 14.8 percent, in Šilalė - by 14 percent.
Prices should decrease in those regions of the country where energy is produced from renewable energy resources. Lower price for natural gas will also have an impact on lower heating prices.
The lowest prices for heating should be established in the regions which are served by the companies 'District heating in Utena' (15.02 ct/ kWh without VAT), 'District heating in Šilalė' (16.76 ct / kWh without VAT) and 'Širvintai heat' (16.94 ct / kWh without VAT). These companies usually use biofuel for heating.
Residents of Molėtai, Jonava, Šiauliai, Tauragė, Birštonas, Ignalina, Šilutė, Radviliškis, Kaišiadorys and Raseiniai will pay relatively low prices for heating (less than 20 cents for 1 kilowatt without VAT).
However, heating prices will increase in six Lithuanian municipalities. The largest price increase is expected in the area served by the company 'Panevėžių energy' (8 percent) and by 'District heating in Plungė' (by 7.4 percent).
