“The artillery radar system Lithuania is buying will be a significant boost to our artillery capabilities. The system is designed to calculate indirect fire positions of hostile forces based on incoming shell trajectory and to enable to quickly engage the source of fire. This purchase is a vital addition to the current capabilities,” says Minister of National Defence Arvydas Anušauskas.
The Lithuanian-Dutch ministerial agreement also opens the door to cooperation on the multi-mission radar maintenance. Involvement of Lithuanian defence industry in the projects of such nature is considered for the future.
The project worth of EUR 126,7 million also covers a logistical support package (technical documentation, training if operators and maintenance personnel, primary package of spare parts, system-specific instrument kit and testing equipment). The first of the ordered radars are planned to arrive in 2026.
The purchased system features advanced solutions that ensures operational and technological flexibility and superiority.
The Thales GM200 MM/C multi-mission system was developed in collaboration with the Dutch Armed Forces to support airspace surveillance tasks or integrate with air defence systems. It has been procured by the Dutch and Norwegian militaries to date.
