Persons who have a Bachelor’s degree in law, business, economics or political science, or a Bachelor’s degree and at least two years’ experience in international cooperation are entitled to stand as candidates to the position of the Commercial Attaché. The applicants must have English knowledge at C1 level. Candidates for the position of the Commercial Attaché in Italy must know the Italian language at B2 level.
‘The new Commercial Attachés in Italy and the UK will help to open up more export opportunities and build important bilateral business relations. This will undoubtedly strengthen the representation of business abroad and maintain close economic relations,’ says Karolis Žemaitis, the Vice-Minister of the Economy and Innovation.

In addition to the salary, the Commercial Attaché will also receive additional allowances for living abroad and for renting a housing. This will amount to EUR 5,900 in the UK and more than EUR 4,600 in Italy.
The Commercial Attaché will also receive a one-off settlement allowance, reimbursement of health insurance costs, and reimbursement of children’s pre-school education and schooling costs. The Commercial Attaché is reimbursed for travel expenses to and from Lithuania once during the year of his/her mandate.
In 2022, the United Kingdom ranked 10th among 211 trading partners of Lithuania, with a trade turnover of EUR 3.02 billion. Exports amounted to EUR 1.54 billion and imports amounted to EUR 1.48 million.
Italy ranked 11th in terms of trade turnover between the two countries, amounting to EUR 2.8 billion. Exports amounted to EUR 919 million and imports amounted to EUR 1.9 billion.
