"Last year, the trade turnover between Lithuania and the USA reached EUR 6.4 billion, and the USA ranks fourth among Lithuania's trading partners. This shows that many American companies are choosing Lithuania as a hub for expansion in the EU, and it is therefore necessary to strengthen this close cooperation and ensure further partnership between the two countries," said the Minister of the Economy and Innovation.
In Chicago, the Minister will open the North American Lithuanian Business Forum, the largest Lithuanian business event, which will bring together more than 200 representatives of companies outside Lithuania. The Minister will present Lithuania's economic achievements and Lithuania as a platform for US investment.
The Minister is also scheduled to meet with executives from Archer Daniels Midland (ADM), a multinational food processing and commodities trading corporation, in Chicago.
In Boston, A. Armonaitė will attend the BioConvention, one of the most important exhibitions in the global life sciences sector, where she will open Lithuania's national stand. The stand will include 9 national companies and the Lithuanian Biotechnology Association.
A. Armonaitė will also attend the opening event of Northway Biotech's new production laboratories in Boston. The Minister will present Lithuania's potential in biotechnology and Lithuania's ambitions in the life sciences sector and meet with potential US investors at the Lithuania's Morning Mingle event together with other Lithuanian companies.
Last year, the US became the 16th largest investor in Lithuania and the leading country in Lithuania in terms of both the number of projects and the number of jobs created. US investment in Lithuania amounted to €337.4 million, of which the largest investments were made in the acquisition and sale of private real estate, real estate operations, manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, and repair of motor vehicles.
