According to the President, the fact that talented Lithuanians working in the cosmopolitan New York and other American cities do not lose touch with their homeland is worthy of great respect. Gitanas Nausėda stressed that despite their generational differences, diverse experiences and artistic fields, they all shared their love for Lithuania, and that was of particular value.
“Thank you for the art you create. We are delighted and proud of it, and we are closely following your creative journey through the world’s biggest galleries, exhibitions and stages. Thank you for bringing Lithuania to the world through your creative biographies and artistic trajectories, for spreading the word about our country far beyond its borders, thus demonstrating the power of the Lithuanian culture,” the President spoke.
Gitanas Nausėda pointed out that the artworks of the US-based Lithuanians are widely showcased in Lithuania, and noted that we needed to make efforts to strengthen ties with Lithuanian artists living in the USA and other countries, so that we could draw more on the cultural power of the Lithuanian artists in the diaspora.
The meeting was attended by the authors of the works exhibited at the Mission, Ray Bartkus, Gediminas & Nomeda Urbonas, Ieva Mediodia, Julius Liudavičius, Vytenis Jankūnas, as well as famous artists Kęstutis Zapkus, Daina Mattis, Aidas Bareikis, among other members of the Lithuanian cultural community in the USA.
