Pursuant to the changes, lottery organizers and lottery ticket distributors will have to ask people buying lottery tickets to present an identity document and prove they are older than 18 yo. If this cannot be proven, lottery organizers and lottery ticket distributors would have to refuse to sell lottery tickets.
In addition, lottery organizers and lottery ticket distributors and their employees will not be allowed to encourage people to participate in lotteries by offering them to purchase lottery tickets. This prohibition does not apply to the distribution of lottery tickets in the Internet.
The new amendments will enter into force on 1st January 2023.
Currently, the Lottery Act does not regulate the age at which lottery tickets can be purchased. However, it is forbidden by law to withdraw winnings to persons under the age of 16.
