Pope Francis sends cordial greetings to Lithuania, praying that God would bless the people of our country with peace and unity.
“Lithuania is an indispensable leader on NATO’s eastern flank and one of the United States’ closest Allies. Our commitment to Lithuania’s security, no matter the threat, remains ironclad,” U.S. President Joe Biden wrote in his message of congratulations. In his letter, the President of the United States expects to further expand a close partnership between the countries and to uphold democratic values our nations share.
“A strong union between Lithuania and Poland is vital, especially in the current situation where security cooperation is so important within NATO and the European Union. The challenges facing Europe and the countries of our region today require us to stand in solidarity and act together,” Polish President Andrzej Duda wrote in his message of congratulations to Lithuania.
On behalf of all German people and on his own behalf, President Frank-Walter Steinmeier congratulated Lithuania and stressed that our countries had a long history of cooperation, based on trust, and close partnership. “I assure you that Germany stands in solidarity with Lithuania and supports it. I believe that our countries and nations will also continue to enjoy good and close cooperation in the future,” the German leader said in his message of congratulations.
February 16 greetings were also extended by the royal heads of Sweden, the Netherlands, Spain, and Bahrain, by the Emperor of Japan, as well as by the leaders of Finland, Austria, Slovakia, Hungary, and other countries.
