A new video surveillance system will be installed by Euroelektronika, the company that won the public tender. The contract with company has been signed at the beginning of July. The value of the contract is nearly 490 thousand euros.
According to Dainius Čiuplys, Head of Operations and Infrastructure at Lithuanian Airports, this procurement is aimed at full renewal of the video surveillance system on the perimeter of the largest airport in the country: video surveillance cameras, system management software and perimeter surveillance workstation equipment.
‘A video surveillance system that meets the latest standards is particularly important to us with a view to improving efficiency of the airport operations, to modernize process management and ensure security. We hope that system renewal at Vilnius air gates will provide useful practical experience and, in the future, we will be able to renew the surveillance systems at Kaunas and Palanga airports’, - says D. Čiuplys.
By summer 2022, 140 stationary cameras with long-range zoom lenses, 50 controlled cameras for operational surveillance, 3 controlled thermal imaging cameras for general and operational surveillance of the aerodrome territory, 2 high-resolution cameras for airplane take-off and landing process and aerodrome surveillance will be designed and installed at Vilnius Airport.
Workstations of video surveillance operators are planned to be reorganised, and two video walls for perimeter and terminal surveillance are planned to be installed.
The existing video surveillance system at the capital's airport was installed in 2006, and it was partially modernized in 2013. We recall that the entire airport infrastructure is cyclical. This means that it has to be renewed every 10-15 years.
