Prime Minister Ingrida Šimonytė has had a remote meeting with Chairwoman of the Lithuanian World Community Dalia Henke, Chairwoman of the Commission of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania and the Lithuanian World Community Dalia Asanavičiūtė, and Chairman of the Public Relations Commission of the Lithuanian World Community Vaidas Matulaitis.
The meeting was aimed at offering compatriots living abroad to encourage their relatives in Lithuania to get a COVID-19 vaccine.
‘Even though you are far away from your native Lithuania, you are linked with it through your relatives living here. Therefore, today I am asking for your help. Please encourage your parents, your grandparents, your neighbours, or other acquaintances in Lithuania to stay safe and save lives. Please encourage them to get vaccinated against COVID-19. Vaccination is the only scientifically proven way to be protected against this virus and to protect others. For, when you come back to Lithuania in the summer, you will long to embrace your loved ones,’ said the Prime Minister in her address.
Currently, municipalities vaccinate older adults on a priority basis. The Government is making every effort to make the vaccination process, coordinated by the municipalities, as smooth as possible.
