“The fight against the present cyber threats is a shared priority of Lithuania and the U.S., and cooperation with the United States in the area has never been as relevant as it is today. That is also reflected in the ambitious programme of the Lithuanian Government that, among other areas, prioritizes strengthening cybersecurity,” said Vice Minister.
M. Abukevičius underscored that national instruments were developed to protect critical infrastructure and ensure Lithuania’s technological independence by eliminating unreliable manufacturers. Lithuania also works intensely on strengthening NATO cyber capabilities and backs the role of the EU as an important format in strengthening political and practical transatlantic cooperation in cyber security.
“Lithuania is a small but powerful U.S. ally in cybersecurity,” said A. Neuberger thanking Lithuania for the support in the context of SolarWinds attacks, active efforts to strengthen cybersecurity, and shared assessment of cyber threats. U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor for Cyber and Emerging Technology was interested in the opportunities for further cooperation in the Regional Cyber Defence Centre in Kaunas, progress on the Lithuanian-led EU PESCO Cyber Rapid Response Teams project, and cooperation possibilities in scientific research development.
