In his message of congratulations, the President highlighted the importance the Pope Francis’encyclical “Fratelli tutti” signed in Assisi this past autumn, in which the Pope calls for open hearts and human fraternity, because we are all in the same boat as brothers and sisters. Fraternity – like a spiritual vaccine – will lead us all on the path to a better, fairer and more sincere world.
“Like many other countries, Lithuania – through great inner effort and close collaboration with those around us – is already moving towards life after the pandemic. We firmly believe that we must all work together to provide vulnerable nations with vaccines against the virus, and to help the particularly affected countries to cope with the consequences of the social and economic crisis,” the President wrote.
Gitanas Nausėda underlined that Pope Francis was always in the prayers of the Lithuanian people who wished him tireless strength in pursuing the mission of spiritual leadership across the world.
