As per this decision, the questionnaires in the form prescribed by the National Public Health Centre (NPHC), completed by passengers, will be verified and, also, results of tests for COVID-19 disease (coronavirus infection) held by passengers as well as time of testing will be assessed at the checkpoints located at the points of entry to the country.
In accordance with the above-mentioned decision of the State Operations Manager, the Ministry of Transport and Communications has instructed Lithuanian Airports and Klaipeda State Seaport Authority to ensure that checkpoints for enhanced passenger control are equipped at passenger terminals operating at the international airports of the country and Klaipeda Seaport. Specialists of the State Border Guard Service (SBGS), NPHC, passenger terminals of the airports and the seaport will work together at these checkpoints.
All passengers arriving in Lithuania from abroad will have to go through these checkpoints before leaving the airports or the seaport. Additional medical-quarantine control will start on 8 February at 8:00 AM.
In preparation for enhanced control, arriving passenger flows will be reorganized at Vilnius, Kaunas and Palanga international airports. Documents of all passengers arriving from Schengen and non-Schengen countries and, if required, the results of tests for COVID-19 disease, will be checked at the arrival areas of the airports after picking up luggage. All passengers will have to present the above-mentioned documents to officials of the SBGS and employees of the NPHC who will meet the passengers.
Arriving passengers are warned that additional medical-quarantine procedures will inevitably require more time. All passengers are asked to make sure, before or during the travel, that all documents are ready for verification and present them properly to the officials working at the checkpoints. This will make the procedures smoother and will help to save time.
Checkpoints for enhanced control in Klaipeda Port will be equipped at Central Klaipeda Terminal and Klaipeda Container Terminal. The operators of these terminals have been instructed to equip checkpoints. Here, analogous medical-quarantine procedures will be applied and passenger flows will be regulated.
Please be reminded that document control of arriving passengers was also being carried out before these changes were introduced. However, it was carried out exclusively by specialists of the NPHC. And after the introduction of these changes, control will be the joint responsibility of officials of the SBGS and the NPHC.
