According to him, the rumours are unfounded and should not be escalated.
"Gas price was reduced and it is very beneficial to our economy, residents and industry. Political declarations about this attempt of an interpretation are not useful and risky to the state. I propose to postpone them until the time when all the formalities regarding these claims will be over, as they are not dropped or suspended or withdrawn. The claim of the state against Gazprom has remained in the arbitration," said Neverovich when asked about dropping the claim.
"On 30April, when the meeting of the board of Lietuvos Dujos was held, where decisions over granting the authorisation to the board to negotiate with the main supplier were made, the state of Lithuania owned 17.7% of shares in the company. Lithuania did not have control over the company then. Therefore, I propose to do not escalate this topic as it has no legal basis," explained the minister.
Prime Minister Algirdas Butkevicius said that governmental institutions had not sent any letters and no one had informed him about it.
In an interview with portal 15min.lt political scientist Raimundas Lopata said that Lietuvos Dujos had sent a letter to Gazprom to inform about dropping the claim in the arbitration.
