Under the signed commercial representation contract, Forwardis will act as a representative selling LG Cargo's services in Central and Eastern Europe and offering freight transportation to Lithuania and other Baltic states by rail, as well as providing bundled services for freight transportation by rail in other countries.
"It's LG Cargo's first commercial representation contract we want to use to increase freight transportation volumes. It's a natural step of our expansion, meeting our long-term strategy to expand in Europe. It also matches the ever-growing integration of railway infrastructure projects with the West," Egidijus Lazauskas, CEO of LG Cargo, said in a statement.
Aleksandra Rohricht, CEO of Forwardis, said her company has spent the past 15 years working with many railway transportation projects in Europe, the Baltic states and the CIS countries, as well as Ukraine.
Up until now, LG Cargo and Forwardis have cooperated on the transportation of LTL freight and have also developed the Amber Train project with the Lithuanian, Latvian and Estonian railway companies.
