The malfunction was recorded at around 8 a.m. and emergency power reserves in Lithuania, Latvia and Estonia were activated to meet Lithuania's power needs. The Kruonis Pumped Storage Hydroelectric Plant is generating 400MW and Latvia and Estonia are providing 100MW each.
An expert group from Litgrid is looking into the causes of this incident.
