The Lithuanian Vice Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr. Gytis Mažeika is going to introduce our country’s achievements in installation of digital technologies in road transport sector, preparation for 5G connection’s development, and underlying works in rail transport area – laying of links of railway infrastructure, improvement of safety and interaction of rail transport, and implementation of environmental protection means, to ASEM Ministers of Transport.
Vice Minister G. Mažeika had a bilateral meeting with the Japanese Vice Minister of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism, Mr. Wada Masamune, where he introduced the most important projects of the Lithuanian transport infrastructure – “Rail Baltica” and development of Klaipeda State Seaport, as well as opportunities for Japanese business representatives to take part in implementation of these projects. The Vice Ministers of both countries signed the Memorandum on intentions to cooperate in the transport area.
“It is important to expand the Lithuanian and Japanese relations in the area of transport and logistics, so that they could be turned into mutually beneficial cooperation,” – said Vice Minister of Transport and Communications, Mr. G. Mažeika.
Lithuania and Japan confirm in the memorandum the objective of both countries to exchange knowledge, experience in transport area and ideas of effective, efficient and sustainable solutions in the transport sector. It is planned to develop cooperation in the areas of road, rail, sea and air transport areas on national, regional and local levels, including business companies and universities. The parties intend to strengthen business relations and induce business representatives to participate and invest in the transport projects of the countries. The research and development institutions of both countries are encouraged to exchange their experience in transport area.
