When deployed, the Lithuanian military will be rendering logistic support to the French-led operation Sangaris aimed at stabilising the situation in the CAR.
At the ceremony the troops will be farewelled by Deputy Minister of National Defence Marijus Velicka, Commander of the Lithuanian Air Force Major General Edvardas Mazeikis, and Chief of the Joint Staff Brigadier General Vilmantas Tamozaitis.
Lithuanians will be transporting cargo and personnel of the one-month operation but will not be involved in combat actions.
The Lithuanian crew and aircraft service personnel will be conducting flights with Spartan C-27J to the Central African Republic from their main base of deployment, N'Djamena International Airport in the Republic of Chad.
