It is allowed to transit the pork products and the material of the animal origin (pork) for the production of feed to Russia from the European Union (EU) companies. Moreover, the veterinary certificate accompanying each product should include the information saying that the production has been inspected in accordance with all the requirements.
"These guarantees provided by the Federal Service for Veterinary and Phytosanitary Surveillance (Rosselchoznadzor) and the harmonized form of the European Commission's Directorate General for Health and Consumer have to be officially confirmed by the vet of the EU member state," said the representative of the department.
Even if the ban on the import of the port from Lithuania was recalled, the department highlighted the necessity to strengthen the Belarus border control.
As reported, on 25 January Belarus imposed a ban on the import and transit of pork from Lithuania over the spread of the African swine fever (ASF) in the country, BELTA learnt from the department of veterinary and food supervision of the Ministry of Food and Agriculture of Belarus.
"According to the information provided by the spokesman of the State Food and Veterinary Service of the Republic of Lithuania, the virus was detected in the examined dead boars," the department said.
