"LIAA in cooperation with MITA will be participating in various activities to promote innovations and technology transfer by providing the information and competence support to businesses and scientists in both countries. In the future, this may help to popularize Latvian and Lithuanian innovations internationally and result in international technology transfer projects," said LIAA Director Andris Ozols.
The cooperation agreement provides for regular exchange of information and support in creation of the Baltic innovation system by producing an overview of the participants of the national innovation systems in Latvia and Lithuania. Both countries will also organize joint events to encourage cooperation between the participants of the national innovation systems and raise public awareness of the cooperation between businesses and scientists.
Kestutis Setkus, Director of MITA, said his agency was glad to cooperate with LIAA. "This partnership in the Baltic Sea region offers numerous opportunities to cooperate and share good practices in building a sustainable innovation ecosystem. Close cooperation between neighbors - Lithuania and Latvia - is a good path for doing business in European and Eastern markets," he said.
