During their visits Lithuanians spent 3.1 nights and LTL 181 (EUR 52.4), on average.
54% of all travellers were women, 46% were men.
36% of local tourists stayed with their relatives or friends, 23% – in hotels or holiday homes, 10% in private homes, 3% – in sanatoriums and rehabilitation centres, 28 – in other establishments.
80% of travellers used cars, 11% – busses, 8% – trains, 1% – other means of transportation.
Most local tourists visited Counties of Klaipeda (28%), Vilnius (19%), Kaunas and Alytus (12% each). Less popular were Counties of Utena (10%), Siauliai (6%), Panevezys (5%), Marijampole and Telsiai (3% each), and Taurage (2%).
According to preliminary data, in the third quarter 516,000 Lithuanians travelled abroad, by 7.4% more year-on-year. 52% of travellers were men, 48% were women.
40% of tourist indicated that they stayed in hotels or motels, 51% stayed with relatives and friends or used the services of private accommodation.
In the third quarter of 2013 the number of trips abroad increased by 1.5% year-on-year. There were 623,600 trips, 75,300 of them were trips with tourism service package, provided by travel agencies and tour operators.
89% were personal trips, while 11% were business trips. Year-on-year in the third quarter of 2013, 1.3% more Lithuanians travelled on personal trips, and 3.1% more travelled on business trips.
In the third quarter of 2013, Lithuanian tourists travelling abroad spent LTL 1,017,600 (EUR 295,000), by 8.5% more year-on-year. Lithuanian tourists on average spent LTL 1,632 (EUR 473), while the average stay was 8.1 nights. In the third quarter of 2012, Lithuanians on average spent LTL 1,527 (EUR 442) and stayed for 7.6 nights.
Most tourists travelled to Latvia (99,900 or 16% of all tourists travelling abroad), the United Kingdom (73,600 – 11.8%), Belarus (50,100 – 8%), Poland (49,400 – 7.9%), Germany (41,100 – 6.6%) and Norway (31.400 – 5%).
