Pope Francis congratulated Lithuanian people. “As you celebrate your Independence Day in this significant centenary year of the Act of Independence of Lithuania, I send greetings to Your Excellency and your fellow citizens, praying that all in the nation will be sustained in their efforts to promote the common good. Upon all Lithuanians, I cordially invoke Almighty God’s abundant blessings”, the Holy Father wrote in his message of congratulations.
On the eve of February 16, U.S. President Donald Trump extended his congratulations to the people of Lithuania on the centennial of the restoration of our state. “We are proud of our long friendship with Lithuania and the many years of partnership in addressing challenges to the values we share”, the U.S. President wrote in the message of congratulations. Donald Trump expressed his appreciation for Lithuania’s dedication to NATO, contribution to protect the territorial integrity of all Allies and to combat the threats of global terrorism.
“It gives me great pleasure to send Your Excellency my congratulations on the celebration of your National Day, particularly in the year in which Lithuania celebrates the centenary of the restoration of independence, together with my best wishes to the people of Lithuania”, Queen Elizabeth II wrote in her message of congratulations. Emperor Akihito of Japan also sent his warm greetings to Lithuania.

In the evening of February 16, to mark this exceptional occasion for Lithuania, the major world buildings will be lit in yellow-green-red: Ponte Estaiada Bridge in Sao Paulo, Presidential Palace in Warsaw, the Empire State building in New York City and other famous buildings.
Danish military personnel, currently on NATO’s Air Policing Mission, sent a video message of congratulations to Lithuania on behalf of their country and on their own behalf.
