In 2017 most of the settlers chose the northern and north – western part of Vilnius district: Avižieniai, Riešė, Zujūnai, Sudervė and Dūkštos elderships. The highest population growth trend in the district of Vilnius is detected in Avižieniai eldership, where the population increased by 727 residents in 2017 and now the total population of the eldership reaches 9 734 residents.
Riešė eldership has an increase in the number of residents as well. In 2017, 176 new settlers came to Riešė eldership. The third eldership, according to the confidently increasing population, is Zujūnai eldership, where 119 new settlers declared their place of residence in 2017. Population growth trend in 2017 is also detected in Sudervė eldership – 85 new residents, Mickūnai eldership – 36 new residents, Dūkštos eldership – 32 new residents and Rudamina eldership – 12 new residents.
According to the data of the Population Register, at the beginning of 2018, 1 009 people have declared their place of residence in the Vilnius district municipality, without the exact address.
The largest elderships of Vilnius district according to the population are: Avižieniai eldership (9 734 residents), Nemėžis eldership (9 325 residents), Pagiriai eldership (7 539 residents), Zujūnai eldership (7 368 residents) and Riešė eldership (6 314 residents).
In 2017, Vilnius District Municipality, taking into consideration the needs of young families settled in Vilnius district, implemented projects for the improvement of educational institutions’ infrastructure, for which about 4 million euro from the municipality budget funds were used. Also, in 2017, intensive supervision of Vilnius district roads and streets was carried out. A total of 15 projects were implemented in joint initiatives on road and street asphalting and gravel pavement repairs, which totalled 1,147 million euro.
