'Yesterday, during the LRT (public Lithuanian radio and television broadcaster) broadcast 'Savaitė' ('The Week'), statements were issued that the activist of the Electoral Action of Poles in Lithuania (EAPL), Jaroslav Skuder, slanders Lithuania in a published book. Today the websites of delfi.lt and 15min.lt manifolded the misinformation about the alleged denigration of Lithuania by the EAPL member,' the notice of the EAPL Press Office says.
'We express our regret over the generalized misinformation, as Mr Jaroslav Skuder has never been the EAPL activist, has never held any position in the party, and currently is not even the member of the party. It must be noted with regret, that it is not for the first time when false information on EAPL is spread in the LRT broadcast 'Savaitė'. This completely discredits the public broadcaster,' the notice of the EAPL Press Office states.
2nd December 2013, Vilnius
'P.S. The report mentioned a story from 1993 when dealings on land allotments for houses' building – despite the objection of the local land owners - took place in Vilnius district. In order to intimidate the owners, military exercises were organized on their land; the participants of the exercises had weapons. This event is real and it really took place. It has to be noted with regret, that nowadays, when twenty years have passed, most of the rightful land owners in Vilnius have not regained their land yet. This situation is similar in particular suburban communes, i.e. in Riešė, Avižieniai, Zujūnai. The land in these communes has not been returned to its rightful owners because as the State Control has concluded yet in 1995, more than 2000 land plots were allotted for the deputies of the Supreme Council, judges of the Supreme court and other courts, for the high-ranking officials and their relatives by the representative of the Government Mr A Merkys almost for free (about 40 LTL per plot). Being aware of the self-will of officials, the Lithuanian public radio and television broadcaster should stand up for the aggrieved rightful land owners instead of attacking EAPL, which has consistently protected and will continue to protect the right to property – the right guaranteed by the Constitution,' the Press Office adds more information.
