The number of foreign visitors grew by 3.2% to 1.241 million and domestic travelers went up by 9.6% to 1.08 million people.
In the third quarter alone, accommodation establishments welcomed 1.028 million tourists, which marks an increase by 4.1% year-on-year, including 549,200 foreigners (down by 0.2%), said the statistics agency.
The total number of visitors from EU countries increased by 0.4% to 345,000, visitors from Lithuania expanded by 9.4% to 478,600 and that of visitors from non-EU countries was down by 1.1% to 204,200 visitors.
More than a third of all foreigners hosted in the July-September (36.1%) came from neighboring countries, namely, Poland (9.7%) and Belarus, Latvia and Russia (8.8% each).
