"It will make it easier to hold talks with potential buyers in Scandinavia, as our response to their needs will be more flexible and timely. We will be able to gradually accumulate cement at the terminal, we will not have to bring the entire amount needed for the ship by train cars at a time, as this is rather difficult," said Arturas Zaremba, CEO of Akmenes Cementas.
The cement loading terminal is being enlarged by Bega stevedorer, planning to build a 4,000-ton reservoir by the end of this year and another analogous reservoir next year.
In Zaremba's words, the company currently sends about 150,000 tons of cement to Scandinavia per year, while the new reservoirs will allow boosting the numbers to 200,000 tons.
