The Prime Minister has pointed out current government's expectations for fruitful cooperation in two areas: first and foremost – in raising the competitiveness of the nuclear power plant, as well as in Hitachi's close involvement in non-nuclear projects.
As regards the future of Visaginas nuclear power plant project, the Prime Minister has informed the company's vice-president of the progress made so far as well as the next steps.
"The outcomes of the Swedish feasibility study on synchronization with the continental European networks as well as proposals for common electricity generation of all the three Baltic states must be discussed with the neighbours. The synchronization issue is also of relevance to the VAE project. This government has initiated talks at the level of companies, which had not been done previously. It is very important as open questions are raised as regards the operation of the common market, competitive generation and synchronization," – said the Head of the Government of Lithuania.
The position of the companies has revealed that their participation prospects are very much related to the outstanding issues of common relevance. The future of the project will depend to a great extent on the solution of these issues together with the regional partners.
