According to Olaf Martens, CEO of Vilnius Airport, until now, repairs were done only at the airport, but now the territory around the arrival terminal will be optimised as well.
“After the territory repair works are completed, which we plan to accomplish in 2018, all vehicles arriving at the Vilnius Airport will notice many positive changes. Taxi parking spaces that are now located next to the terminal will be moved to the newly built stop for international coach and bus transport. A car rental will continue to operate nearby, just like now,” O. Martens presented future improvements.
As the number of passengers at Vilnius Airport increases, the issue of parking is becoming more and more important. To minimise inconvenience for arriving and departing passengers as well as their friends and family members who drive them to the airport, additional parking spaces will be built in the territory of the airport. It is planned that by the end of 2018, the number of parking spaces next to the airport will more than double.\
“The reconstruction of the territory has already started. Construction of the new car park started at the beginning of May. At the location of the administrative building in A. Gustaičio Street, 206 additional parking spaces will be built at the end of September; in addition, spaces for charging electric cars are planned as well. Also, 999 additional spaces will be built at the multi-storey car park, which will be built at the intersection of Rodūnios Road and F. Vaitkaus Street at the end of the next year,” noted the CEO of Vilnius Airport.
According to O. Martens, after the airport territory optimisation plan is implemented, control of all vehicles entering the territory will start. Barriers will be installed at the entrance to the central airport square and on the ramp leading to the departure terminal.
