The power line was operational again last Friday after being down for about 15 hours, and the cause of the malfunction is unknown, Nord Pool power exchange said. Vilija Railaite, spokeswoman for the electricity distribution operator Litgrid, said the interconnection had been offline due to an IT error.
"A logical error occurred at the control system in Nybbro (…). This had to do with error of IT systems, not the interconnection itself, therefore, the repairs went so fast," Railaite told.
After the cable went offline on Thursday evening, Lithuania put into operation the Kruonis pumped storage plant, which provides emergency reserve services.
