I wrote "almost" on purpose, because the further lyrics stated that boredom in a rainy weather had its own good consequences. The teenagers in the previously mentioned record did less and messed up less. However, the conservatives are very eager to toil. As a consequence, they mess up with a great joy.
A very dirty and defamatory work against the Polish community, I may consider are the newest amendments to the Penalty Code. The conservatives introduced new paragraph which envisages criminal liability of a person which limits others freedom regarding on their sex, sexual orientation, race, nationality, language, parentage, material situation or religious convictions. You have to be extremely bored, in order to find that the Vilnius County citizens violate provisions of a previously stated paragraph. Why, because they are obliged to attend Polish schools. The demons, that force young citizens to enrol in to Polish schools, are the local authorities. This is being happily repeated by Rytas Kupčinskas, Vida Marija Čigriejienė, Kęstutis Masiulis, Algis Strelčiūnas and Pranas Žeimys. The citizens of Vilnius County from now you can sleep well. These six, are going to help you, because "No one will limit your right to choose the proper school - Lithuanian school". They boast that according to the new amendment it will be forbidden for the local authorities to use such phrase as "Polish school", because it would be "an attempt of restriction of citizens' liberty to choose, because there was maintained a pressure on a citizen to send his or her children to a specific school". For such "terror" the conservative parliamentarians want to convict such person for public jobs, fines or even prison.
I can realise, that those people can't recognize the fact, that a Polish child in a Polish school is something natural and voluntary, from generation to generation. This smear campaign would shock a person from outside, but not the Vilnius County citizens. They are proud of their history and are bounded with their native tongue. As long as the members of the parliament serve them such non sense, the more people believe that they made the right choice.
The freedom defenders are rushing to help the poor Vilnius County citizens, because they believe that "The local authorities were setting the parents under pressure to ensure that their children would attend the Polish school, otherwise they could cut the cash allowance" - that was the statement with which the happy six started their tourney all across the Lithuanian media. The supporting LNK television emitted the second part of the show entitled "How to defend Poles from Polish schools". This time the head role was given to Kęstutis Masiulis, which happened to be several decades ago an ideal communist and soviet professor. This fact is being silenced today.
To be honest, we are witnessing an embarrassing spectacle, which is built on a false concern. However the main actors are satisfied, because they achieved several goals. Firstly, they slandered the administration of the so-called Polish regions. Secondly, they identify themselves as defenders of the Polish schools and they presented that all pupils in the Polish schools are hostages of the system. Lastly, they winked to that part of the electorate which loves the hunt for the Polish witches'.
If I were local authority of the Vilnius County I would defend my good name in a trial. If I were a reporter I would put into questioning the sense of such paragraph. For example, who and how urges the children to attend Polish schools in capital Vilnius. Why there are so many so many pupils in Lithuanian schools all across the Vilnius County if there is a compulsion to attend the Polish ones. And why the conservatives instead of feeding the society with conspiracy related theories wouldn't tackle the issue which was presented by the Ministry of the Education and Science - the national schools lacked 2500 pupils. It is strongly believed that they pursue their educational goal in-exile. It is hard to foster the national identity abroad, but I assume it is their right to choose (or their parents). The part that saddens me is that the parents do not respect their country, to notify the former school.
