The Conference is dedicated to marking the Treaty of Rome, signed in the Italian capital on 25 March 1957, which laid the foundations for the European Union and created the preconditions for long-term stability, prosperity and security in Europe and beyond.
The Conference is organised by the Seimas Committee on European Affairs, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, the Representation of the European Commission in Lithuania, and the European Parliament Information Office in Lithuania.
The first session of the Conference will focus on the EU’s current challenges and ways to address them. The intention is to seek ways to increase the attractiveness and clout of the EU, find out what kind of European Union citizens want, and discover ways to promote public support for the EU and counter the efforts to break the solidarity among EU Member States.
The second session of the Conference will take stock of the geopolitical realities and the ways to strengthen the EU’s internal and external security.
The Conference will bring together representatives of the EU institutions, politicians and civil society representatives of the EU Member States, academics, students, and other stakeholders.
