‘We have an excellent and exceptional public transportation route, dedicated to serve both guests of the capital, and its residents but perhaps travelling for a holiday, or simply working late hours at the airport. We hope that our Route 88 buses operating round the clock will please everybody who does not want to be bothered with car parking problems, or pay the taxi fare’, says Modesta Gusarovienė, Director of a municipal entity Susisiekimo paslaugos.
Adjusted to night flights
The buses of the new ‘Airport–Station–Old Town–Independence square’ buses will be running a new route – they will pass the Railway station area, and then will make a stop in the Old Town. The route will be specifically handy for city guests visiting Vilnius, and also outgoing customers, as the new route will make the communication with the Vilnius airport and the city centre much more convenient.
‘Vilnius airport is one of the fastest growing airports in Europe. The number of flights, as well as passengers is growing exponentially, therefore it is very important to ensure that our residents and guests have convenient access to the city. I have no doubt that our passengers will welcome the novelties, and especially the possibility to reach the airport with a means of public transportation at night time’, says Indrė Baltrušaitienė, Communication and marketing manager of the Lithuanian airports.
In winter time 17 airlines operate flights to 53 destinations, i.e. 44 cities in Europe and beyond. The schedule of the new night bus will be adjusted to the plane arrival and departure times.
Susisiekimo paslaugos informs that the marking of the buses will also differ depending on the time of the day – day buses will be larked as No. 88, and night buses will operate as 88N. The marking will be also used in the bus schedules, that will be presented as separate both on-line, and on the schedules displayed in public transportation stops. For day buses the passengers will be able to use all the regular bus tickets, while at night time they will be requested to purchase a one-off ticket from the driver.
The schedules of the new Route 88 ‘Airport–Station–Old Town–Independence square’ will be published at the internet website www.vilniustransport.lt on November 29, and the information in the public transportation stops will be updated as from November 30.
