“Currently “Airport Inno Lab” examines the most problematic airport spheres, for which we will create innovations later. So far, we have identified two spheres: robot-aided management of passenger flows and passenger baggage. We plan that we will seek EU SF support for the development of products in these spheres as well,” says Jonas Kazėnas, the director of the Strategic Development Department of Lithuanian Airports.
Meanwhile, it is planned that the EU SF investment will be used to strengthen the activity of the cluster, which will help to build and foster relationships with major innovation companies in Lithuania and abroad. Strengthening the activity of the cluster will include raising its profile in Lithuania and abroad. This will help “Airport Inno Lab” attract new members, who will assist in enhancing the portfolio of the cluster’s competences. In addition, internal partner connections will be strengthened to ensure member cooperation during the development of new products, the search for foreign markets, and efficient management of the common infrastructure.
It is estimated that investments in “Airport Inno Lab” will bring tangible benefits to the residents of Lithuania as well as the EU because the cluster’s activity will contribute to the creation of economy based on scientific knowledge and will offer useful innovative products to the public.
“Airport Inno Lab” unites various business and science organisations, including Lithuanian Airports, Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VGTU), the technology company “Rubedo sistemos”, the international automation company “Blue Ocean Robotics”, the high-tech start-up “Žvelk aukščiau” and the software company “FrontIT”.
